Baby Diplomats Eat with Chopsticks, or Hands or ...

Baby Diplomats will use whatever they have to get their food.  In Korea it was chopsticks, in India it's our hands, and ofcourse for formal diplomatic meals we are pros with a fork.  

As long as we get food anything goes.

Baby Diplomats Visit Fish Markets

When you live in other countries you visit all sorts of places that you would never see in the U.S.  For me, in Korea, one of those places was the fish market.  This is me checking out the fresh catch and eating at the fish market restaurant.  Mom and Dad selected fresh fish and then took it straight to the restaurant in the market to have them cook it.  That seafood was yum yum good.

Baby Diplomats have birthday's with unusual names

Ok so it's been a year and a half since I last posted.  Hey I've been busy!  Kinda:-)  Anyway, I'm going to get caught up on the past. So hang on, here we go.

So Baby Diplomat's have unusual birthdays for sure. This is me on my first birthday, also known as a "Dol".  In Korea baby's celebrating their first birthday are expected to participate in a Tolijabee.  During this celebration the baby wears the traditional Korean attire called the "hanbok" and is seated in front of a table with numerous items on it.  The tradition says that the item the baby selects is an indicator of what their future will be.  This is me in front of the table (our's was sort of a modernized version several non-traditional items here).  I picked the book (which stood for educator) and almost at the same time the ball (which was for athlete).  So I'm not sure what that means. Maybe PE teacher:-)  I wasn't very fond of the "hanbok" but I wore it and after some cake almost forgot I even had it on:-) 

 

 

Baby Diplomats Drink at Thai palaces

This is me hanging out in Bangkok, Thailand.  And yea, I needed a bottle even at the palace.  Hey a girl needs a drink when she needs a drink.  It's good to be a Baby Diplomat!   

Baby Diplomats Eat Dinner on the Floor

Ok maybe only Baby Diplomats in Korea do this but sometimes we eat while sitting on a the floor.  I really like it when we do that cause I can grab more of the food on the table this way and I can run around the room when I'm done.  I've even  tried using chopsticks but I've come to the realization that I would rather drum with the chopstick then eat with it.

And register to vote. Ok so 1 year olds can't actually vote but this is me and dad and Uncle Sam hanging out at a voter registration event. Me and Uncle Sam are tight:-)

Baby Diplomats Fly on Planes Almost as Often as they Ride in Cars

My first flight was a short 1 hour flight to Jeju Island.  This picture is from my second flight from Seoul, Korea to Washington, DC.  I was 8 mo old.  By the time I turned 1 years old I had taken 9 flights (counting each leg of a trip).  And you know they won't even let babies fly first class!!!  Sheeshh!!!  At least they let me have a frequent flyer card so I'm racking up the points :-)
